?!?

I was going through my mail today and discovered a mass mailing, addressed to me, from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Ya know, those ones that ask you to donate to their cause and give you tons of address labels to make you feel guilty? :)
I'm all for giving to causes and charities, but that's besides the point here.
This mailing was a little unusual to me. See for yourself...They gave ME a nickel and said this nickel can help save a child's life.

THEN WHY DID YOU GIVE IT TO ME?!?
If a nickel can save help save a child's life, then why are you just giving them away?!

I can't imagine how many of these letters went out with nickels in them. I know at my work I send out about 3000 letters a day. So if they were doing at least that, which I'm sure they are sending out more, then that's like $150.

Am I the only one that thinks this doesn't make sense?

Is that a real nickel? Yeah, I don't really think it was the most effective way of getting your point across, when they could just use them. hmmm....not sure there.
